Want to avoid running around at the last minute, and support a charity at the same time? We've got the solution for you: take part in our virtual silent auction!

From December 5 to 15, La Boussole is launching its ''A coeur ouvert : cadeaux de fêtes solidaires'' operation. The organization is offering a variety of dematerialized prizes (tickets, admissions, passes) as well as physical prizes (boxes of chocolates, clothing, works of art) in online silent auctions.

Numerous artists have responded to this initiative and generously donated works to support La Boussole. You can discover paintings, framed or unframed, as well as original drawings and cyanotypes.

All the arts, from music and theater to dance and the visual arts, are represented in our selection of prizes. You'll find tickets to shows at Théâtre La Seizième, Hollywood Theater, Bard on the Beach, BC Ballet and the Vancouver International Film Festival, as well as tickets and gift boxes to art galleries such as the Vancouver Art Gallery and Polygon Art Gallery.

Sports are no exception, with tickets to BC Lions and Whitecaps games! As well as pampering yourself with gym passes and yoga classes, and sometimes even the matching mat and hoodie!

If you prefer to give a more tangible gift, boxes of chocolate, clothing and jewelry, and even a bouquet of Valentine's Day flowers are also available.

Finally, if you're not sure what you might like, you can also bid on gift cards, especially from small local shops such as

A practical guide to online silent auctions

Would you like to take part, but don't really know how silent auctions work? Don't worry, we'll go over the principles of this operation together.

First of all, on December 5, visit our online silent auction platform, where you'll have access to all available lots and can stroll through our virtual aisles. Two pieces of information will be available to you: the initial value of the lot and the starting value for the auction. In concrete terms, you'll be able to see an item with an initial value of $100, starting at $50. If you're interested, all you have to do is bid; you'll be asked to pay $52, for example.

Other interested parties may bid on the same item, so don't lose track and keep bidding if you really want to win this lot!

Our silent auction closes on December 15, and depending on the nature of the lot, you can pick it up online or in person.

Your support is more crucial than ever

La Boussole supports disadvantaged Francophones and Francophiles in Greater Vancouver and the Downtown Eastside community through social actions (referrals to dedicated services, food and clothing support) and community activities (awareness-raising activities, events and workshops).

Your participation in this auction will enable us to finance our main missions: paper bags to hold the food we distribute at our food bank, psychological follow-up sessions for Francophones living in a linguistic minority environment, and art-related activities that we can subsidize.

If you'd like to support us without taking part in the silent auction, we're also launching our "Giving Tuesday" campaign between December 2 and 4. For more information, here's the link to our website. Donations are accepted all year round!

Thank you for your support!
