Canada is a leading country for Asian immigration. Nearly 20% of the population has Asian origins, and over 60% of newcomers were born in Asia*. In Vancouver, the Asian population is also well represented.
Asian Heritage Month, which takes place in May, is therefore symbolic for Vancouverites. Its aim is to showcase the culture, arts and history of Asian Canadians, and this year's theme is "Tales of Determination".
To mark the occasion, we're organizing a multi-part workshop at our premises on May 25. We will propose exchanges on:
- The story of Asian Heritage Month
- Remarkable Asian-Canadians
- The "Tales of Determination" theme
- Building the Asian capital of Vancouver
An Asian-style mindfulness meditation practice will also be offered at the end of the workshop.
