La Boussole is proud to announce its participation in the next Forum des ami-es des parcs, organized by the Centre d'écologie urbaine in collaboration with Ami-es des parcs Canada. The event will be held on September 18, 2024 at the Montreal Botanical Garden, bringing together groups and organizations working to protect and enhance parks across the country. La Boussole is attending as part of the project Connecting Francophone Friends of Canadian Parksproject, funded by the Quebec government.
The theme of this event is "Achieving local success: partnership, mobilization and inclusion". In this context, Nathalie Astruc, Director of Operations, and Camille Escande, Cultural and Community Programs Manager, will highlight the challenges faced by people in precarious situations in gaining access to parks and green spaces. This participation is part of an inclusive approach aimed at restoring a place for these spaces in the lives of Vancouver's most vulnerable people.
Thanks to a fruitful collaboration with Park People and the support of the TD Park People grant, La Boussole has been able to organize various activities to reconnect the French-speaking community with nature. This year's Saint-Jean-Baptiste celebration (June 24), supported by Canadian Heritage, benefited from the support of Park People, who funded the event permit. In addition, a guided tour of Stanley Park (July 16) and an eco-art therapy workshop (scheduled for September 26) testify to La Boussole's commitment to accessible green spaces.

This forum is an opportunity for La Boussole to share its experiences and strengthen ties with other players in the Canadian Francophonie, while advocating for greater inclusion of people in precarious situations in our parks.
