June is a month of celebration with Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day. It's a must for Quebec, and for Canada as a whole, which is home to nearly 10 million French-speaking people*.
Originally a religious holiday linked to the summer solstice, June 24 finally became Quebec's official national holiday in 1977, when the government issued a ministerial decree honoring French traditions and language.* The day is also known as Fête nationale du Québec.
For the occasion, we'll be celebrating Quebec culture on Friday, June 23 at 3:30 p.m. in Concord Park at Science World. On the program: outdoor activities, quizzes, games, and exchanges accompanied by snacks and drinks.
